The Meadfoot Inn - Cash In The Box game – Rules:

Draw tickets cost £1.00 each. You can purchase as many tickets as you wish but will only be allowed to play the elimination round twice! Ten tickets are drawn (either from a bucket or electronically)  to identify the contestants for the elimination round (similar to play your cards right). A customer will be asked to witness the prize money being placed in the box.  Check the key opens the lock, locks the box, then finally dropping the key into the bag containing eleven other keys, to be used later in the game. The game will be played in two halves with a short break in-between. First Half - The first contestant of five will be offered a choice of 5 stacks of cards, the second a choice from 4 and the third a choice of 3 etc.  They will then be asked if they want the cards “cut” before they are placed on the game board. Once all 14 cards are placed on the board the contestant will be asked to select 4 to be taken away.  Their aim to remove the “Queen”!  The compare will reveal the first card.  The contestant must then get as far across the board as possible by guessing “Higher” or “Lower”.  Ace is low and the Joker is high.  But if you turn a “Queen” your game is over!  If a card has been turned over eg: 7 the contestant has the opportunity to buy one of the rejected cards to replace the one that has just been turned over including the first card (and subsequent cards providing the guess was correct) hoping they won’t pick the queen! (£1 per card placing the money straight into the box, max two cards changed, this facility is void if a queen is overturned). After each game the compare will draw the next contestant. The process is repeated until all five contestants have played their cards. After a short break which includes shuffling the cards, the next five contestants will go through the same round as above.  The contestant who turns most consecutive cards in the elimination round is the winner and will go onto the next stage.  In the event of a tie the winners will be asked a percentage question, and the answer is given in the form of a number, the person closest to the actual number required is deemed the winner of the round. Any contestant that successfully turns over all of their cards in the elimination round will win a £5.00 Meadfoot Money Voucher.  This applies even if the last card is a “Queen” providing they make the correct higher or lower selection! This becomes void if they have used the buy back option.

The winner of the elimination card game will then be invited to select a key from the bag now containing 12 keys in total. The compare will then endeavour to persuade the winner to exchange their selected key for one of up to five named prizes, these will be offered in separate enclosed envelops (the compare will not know what prize is in what envelope), prizes may vary each week but typically consists of a combination of the following: - Cash, Meadfoot money (which can be spent at the Meadfoot Inn), Electrical goods or other unusual items!. If the winner takes the alternative prizes offered they forfeit the opportunity to take the cash. However the winner will be asked to then try their selected key in the lock to see if they would have won the money!

If the winner chooses to open the box rather than take the prizes offered and key opens the lock they will win the contents of the box in cash. If the winner neither takes the alternative prizes offered and haven’t selected the key that opens the box they will receive their regular drink as a consolation prize. Once the monies for the game reaches £999.00 any additional money will be put towards the next pot increasing the starting value of the next game.
